Chimera is one of the bosses that can appear in Corpse.

Behavior

In its first phase, Chimera will slowly chase the player while using the following attacks:

• Spawns a Sick Boom Fly and hurls it towards the player
• Spawns multiple Small Maggots
• Sprints towards the player, trailing creep
• Does two consecutive jumps, spurting out tears on the first impact and creating a swirl of ground rocks on the second
• Spits out a flurry of fast, small ipecac shots in the air
• Spits fast shots towards the player

Once its HP is reduced to 50%, its head will pop off, acting as a separate entity from now on. The body will still slowly chase the player. The two parts will use the following attacks:

• The body will:
  • Do a Cage-like rolling attack
  • Pick up the head, throwing it towards the player. When the head hits a wall it creates a burst of bullets
  • Go to a wall, fire a Brimstone shot away from the wall, spurting out Cage-colored tears in every direction in a Monstro's Lung-like pattern
• The head will:
  • Do a hop and then slide towards the player trailing creep
  • Fire three parallel chains of bullets that move in a sine wave-like pattern
  • Fire five parallel chains of three bullets
  • Do a Dingle-like triple charge, trailing creep
  • Spawn Small Maggots
  • Charge towards the player trailing creep, upon missing and hitting a wall or rock, blood bullets will scatter randomly

Trivia

• Chimera seems to be taking parts from the Cage, Gurglings, and Monstro simultaneously.

• The Chimera was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature,usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that might end with a snake's head
• The term Chimera is also used in genetic science in order to depict an organism formed with multiple genetic codes. This phenomenon occurs when multiple fertilized eggs merge together during the pregnancy or after a transplant operation when host and giver's codes coexist.
• Chimera may be a reference to the game Mother 3, in which amalgamated creatures, called chimeras, were often bosses. The chimeras in Mother 3 often were pieced together using parts of various organisms, strengthening this connection.
